Object_01 || 2013
This piece was created as part of my graduate thesis which explored interactive responsive sculptures that behaved differently based on the user's proximity. Polystyrene beads pulse cyclonically up and down inside of the clear column based on pre-programmed behaviors.
The sculpture incorporated an ultrasonic rangefinder to read distance, a servo to open and close an iris which modulated the air intensity, LEDs and a contact microphone to generate sound responses. The piece is controlled with an Arduino micro-controller.
